History of Yorkshire Baker

The story of Yorkshire Baker begins, surprisingly, in Nottinghamshire. That’s where Gill Ridgard grew up on a farm and was inspired by her mother’s tasty home cooking. She has raised pigs, become a qualified butcher, learned about the business side of the food industry and opened a number of shops.

In 2007 Gill fell in love with the picturesque market town of Malton, the food capital of Yorkshire, and made it her home. It was here that she created Yorkshire Baker, taking her time to cook gourmet pastry products using only the finest ingredients. Her delicious hand-crafted sausage rolls quickly became a big hit with delis and farm shops across North Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Baker formed a partnership with Cranswick plc in 2012. Gill now works in bigger kitchens, guiding the bakers in her hand-crafting techniques, and dreaming up new pastry delights for more enthusiastic customers than ever before.
